A prospective student can apply for excellent EKG and phlebotomy training in Bronx schools. The student has the opportunity to be schooled for a responsible position in a medical setting upon being certified. The schooling is relatively brief although comprehensive in all the skill the position needs for such a job.

One school offers a 28-hour course to train as an electrocardiography, EKG, technician. The attendees will have seven weeks of four hour sessions. This course will prepare the student with the initial requirements for an entry level position.

Those working in the medical field as emergency medical technicians or nurses may want to add this skill to their resume. An employer is always eager to interview a qualified applicant. This certification is going to add to your appeal as a prospective employee.

Following the certification that is given after the classes are completed successfully, the student can go on to take a National Certification Exam. This is an optional test, however the student who passes is more appealing to a human resources manager. It is further proof of his or her competence.

Each student completes training in three different ways. He or she refers to a text book, listens carefully to lectures given by the teacher. This instructor is certified through the Red Cross. He also learns from working in a simulated laboratory on real equipment.

There are specific ways of collecting and handling blood that include safety concerns, which will be a part of the curriculum. Taking this course requires both class work and practice in the lab.
