Hemp Health Benefits To Consider

By Sharlene Fleming  :

Hemp health is a very general term that covers a lot more than simply smoking marijuana for disease and illnesses. This term is in regards to the benefits of eating this product, not smoking it. It has been used for years to make clothing and jewelry but is not yet a well known item as far as nutrition is concerned.

When people hear this news, the first thing they tend to think about is the THC that is contained in marijuana. When this product has been grown specifically for use in clothing, jewelry, food and other consumer products it contains only minuscule amounts of this chemical. No matter how hard you try, these products do not have the ability to get you high.

Most people are not surprised to hear the leaves can be eaten. They are however, surprised to find out that the most nutritious part is the seeds. Filled with amino acids, minerals, and fatty acids, each seed features an enormous amount of protein, linoleic acid and healthy oils.

Importing of this product into the United States is legal even though it is still not legal to grow it in most places in the US. Since it can be imported, more and more stores have begun to carry it. It is also readily available on the Internet. With the ability to buy it increasing, more people are able to experience the benefits that this nutty tasting product has to offer.

--> You may be surprised to find the number of products available today on store shelves. Products including granola, tofu, milk and even butter are becoming readily available. As with most foods, anything that has been processed can be a bit more expensive so you may want to try buying the seeds and using them to create your own recipes.

Now you might be curious as to where you can buy the seeds. Many health food stores carry them. They can also be found in the bulk section wherever organic foods are sold. There are stores that will carry them with the items in the baking aisle. Once you have the seeds you might be wondering what to do with them next. Some people enjoy eating them right out of the bag as a healthy alternative to sunflower seeds. Still others put them in their tub of yogurt or on top of their cereal. They made a tasty addition to breads, muffins, and other baked goods and can also be a delicious addition to homemade granola. To help ensure they remain fresh, store them in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed container.

Oil is another option that is readily available and easily added to foods. Some people enjoy the nutty flavor and use it straight from the bottle as a supplement. Superior in nutrition when compared to olive and flaxseed oils, this oil can be used in smoothies and salad dressing. It should not be cooked so it cannot be used in recipes where it will be heated. Much like the seeds, this oil must be stored in the refrigerator to help preserve its freshness and stability.

Hemp health when used for human consumption is also easy on the environment. Where it is grown there is no need to use any pesticides. It also replenishes the soil with necessary nutrients while producing oxygen and helping to control erosion. It offers several benefits that are only recently becoming known.
