To Drink Green Tea Or Black Tea - Which Tea has More Antioxidants?

Did you know that green and black tea come from the same source? Even while the colors differ, they both are generated from a plant named camellia sinensis. Teas are labeled as one of the healthiest drinks and both black and green teas are beneficial to health. Just how are they different and more importantly which tea offers more health benefits in comparison to the other?

On the other hand, black tea goes through a full oxidation process which uses up to 3 hours. This procedure is the main reason why the color is darker and flavor is richer. Leaves of camellia sinensis are naturally green as with any other plant. When it relates to food, one that is more processed typically loses more of its organic ingredients. The same thinking also applies to tea leaves. Retaining the color green implies it will have more of the natural element, catechin.

Catechins are the active substance found in the tea leaves. They are source for benefits like weight loss, bad cholesterol, cancer prevention and heart disease. Scientific studies have shown that a cup of green tea offers eight times more catechins than black tea. Theoretically, you would need to intake eight more cups of black tea than green tea to get the equivalent quality of positive effects.

Many scientific tests have been conducted on the health benefits associated with black tea. Some lab experiments were successful against cardiovascular diseases, cancer and diabetes. This shows the therapeutic capability of camellia sinensis. Regardless of the type of operation it goes though, the leaves remain beneficial to human body. Yet it makes sense to take in the tea that contains more of the active substance. So why don't you start adding green tea to your diet plan.
