Fact or Fiction about Health and Fitness

By Jude John Cordell :

Sometimes it seems that when you go to the gym or club it really is a good idea to avoid listening to everyone who talks. While you can get some great workout tips, you can also pick-up information that may be inaccurate or false. We doubt that people purposely disseminate false information at the gym. Just because someone has been working out in the gym a long time does not necessarily make them an authority on the subject just like any other time you might get advice. Use only sources that are credible. The following tips can help shed some light on truths and other information on health and fitness.

An interesting fact we hear about often is how good swimming can be for losing weight. This is in no way true. Although there are many benefits to swimming, losing pounds doesn't even make the list. The reason for this is because as you are swimming the water is doing the work to support your body weight (called buoyancy) which basically means you aren't getting the workout you think you are or that you might if you were running or jogging long distances.

--> Sweat is another subject in this series. Most people believe that sweat is indicative of hard work and a good workout. The converse seems to hold, as well. If there is no sweat happening, then they must not be working very hard. In fact sweat is simply your body's air conditioner. Physical exertion and sweat are not interrelated.

It's a fact that you can burn calories without breaking a sweat. Even just a walk can help you accomplish that.

Serious disease conditions can be slowed or prevented by implementing a healthy fitness program like taking a home exercise bike routine and a well balanced diet. The benefits of exercise on cardiovascular health are no secret. It is a proven fact that other conditions can also be improved or prevented with diet and exercise. Aging is another condition that can be aided with exercise and healthy lifestyle choices.

You will hear many lies and some truths in the world where fitness is concerned. So be careful what you believe. Always try to find a way to confirm the information you so read on the net - including in this article! Careful here, you'll want to avoid information that can cause you harm if it turns out to be incorrect. Take time and be responsible for researching what you hear.
