Entertainment comes in many forms. There is no one in this world who would not like to be entertained. Wrestling as a form of entertainment is a sport in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Japan. It came to be an international event in the 1980s with the development of WWF. The history of professional wrestling is long though, dating back to the early nineteenth century.

During the times of fierce competition in 1990s, the highly entertaining sport achieved high financial support such as World Champion Wrestling, World Champion Federation, and Extreme Champion Wrestling. In the late 1860s and late 1870s during post civil war period is when wrestling in form of traveling performers paid for people during staged performances. During this time carnies worked as their sponsors and bookers.

The game started in the carnival stage. This is the time that professional wrestlers were so popular and entertaining. They were traveling around the states showing people the different ways of fighting. At this time the sport was a form of entertainment and not competition. People would come out in large numbers to watch this people perform on the stage. There were also managers who chose how wrestlers would gain fame and money.

Although it was not a form of competing to get rich at its early stages the winning wrestler was sponsored and booked by managers. There were also compensation and tokens of appreciations for the winning wrestler. The managers encouraged the wrestlers so as to make the sport more entertaining and interesting. Interest of money making from the wrestlers made it seem to be business and the entertaining part of it became less popular thus distinguishing itself from the amateur background.

The sport has come a long way to become what it is today. In the 1920s it was only a legitimate sport. Its nature has changed dramatically to better fit in television, enhancing story lines and character traits. Many wrestlers have become celebrities of the known culture through television.

It can therefore, be referred to as a game between two professional wrestlers for compensation. The game looks more real on television but viewers should note that its only one way of entertaining them. Publicity of the wrestlers made many of them to be known thus making the game more popular. Professional performances were broadcast and each of the three major television stations broadcast it from 1948 to 1955. The largest supporter of this show was Dumont Television Network.

Television made the wrestlers to be known and they became popular. Television has changed the on-screen setting in many ways. This includes a conversation between the wrestlers giving them a chance to prove and convince the audience that they are the best wrestlers in the crew. They are also given a chance to challenge their opponents with strong words to make them feel afraid of fighting. Due to television innovation and the popularity of wrestlers, they also began to change.

The remaining shows are aired at night while many people are tired and need some rest. These changes have created the history of professional wrestling and the different stages it has passed by. Nowadays the sport is viewed as a business where people wrestle for fame and money.
